Police Aim Gun at 4 Year Old For Stealing a Doll From a Dollar Store

Phoenix police hold a black family at gunpoint after their child allegedly stole a doll from a dollar store. A notice of claim was filed Thursday morning and it accuses police officers of battery, unlawful imprisonment, false arrest, infliction of emotional distress and violation of the family’s civil rights. According to the claim, Dravon Ames and Iesha Harper, who is five months pregnant, didn’t realize their 4-year-old took a doll from a Dollar Store until they were in the car. The family drove to an apartment building near by, where their babysitter lives. Woman Begs Cops Not to Shoot Kneeling Black Man

An L.A. woman is being praised for filming police as they threatened a black man with their guns drawn while he knelt with his up. In the video, filmed in the city of Hawthorne, at least four officers can be seen pointing their guns at the man, who is kneeling on the sidewalk, facing away from the officers with his hands above his head. More Hawthorne cops arrive as the woman, Sky Holsey, begs the officers to put their guns away. The man can be heard saying he is unarmed. The incident occurred at a busy intersection in Hawthorne, in Los Angeles County. William Ewell, 24, ended up being arrested that Friday morning, police records show. Kenneth Oliver was freed Monday June 3, after serving 23 years of a life sentence for a joyriding case. 8 years of which he spent in solitary confinement for possessing a book written by Black Guerilla Family co-founder George Jackson! His attorneys say, "it’s unconscionable that he was set to die in prison for nonviolent crimes." Oliver, now 52, was given the life sentence at 29 under California’s strict “three strikes” sentencing law for repeat felons. Cop That Murdered Eric Garner Will Face Trial... But Not for Murder

The cops were called because Garner was allegedly selling cigarettes. Garner was unarmed and was not resisting arrest. A book that discusses the impact of the criminal justice system on black men, has been banned by Arizona prisons. I guess First Amendment rights no longer apply in prisons. The American Civil Liberties Union called on the Arizona Department of Corrections to rescind the ban on “ Chokehold: Policing Black Men .” The book takes a good look at law enforcement and mass incarceration as it relates to African American men.
