Missy Elliott, In Tears, Gets Inducted Into Songwriters Hall of Fame    Missy Elliott, the creative mastermind who has written hit songs for a number of singers/rappers and created camaraderie among women in the music industry for more than two decades, felt the love back from her musical sisters as she became the first female rapper inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.   Queen Latifah, a Grammy, Emmy and Golden Globe winner, inducted Missy with some very kind words as she paid homage to their long-lasting friendship.   Even former first lady Michelle Obama took her time to express how much of a Missy Elliott fan she is.   “Missy, I want to thank you for all of your trailblazing ways,” Michelle Obama said in a taped video that aired during the event. “Thank you not for just sharing your gift with the world, but for being an advocate for so many people out there, especially young girls who are still figuring out how to make their voices heard.” ...

Police Aim Gun at 4 Year Old For Stealing a Doll From a Dollar Store

  Phoenix police hold a black family at gunpoint after their child allegedly stole a doll from a dollar store.   A notice of claim was filed Thursday morning and it accuses police officers of battery, unlawful imprisonment, false arrest, infliction of emotional distress and violation of the family’s civil rights.    According to the claim, Dravon Ames and Iesha Harper, who is five months pregnant, didn’t realize their 4-year-old took a doll from a Dollar Store until they were in the car.   The family drove to an apartment building near by, where their babysitter lives. Woman Begs Cops Not to Shoot Kneeling Black Man

  An L.A. woman is being praised for filming police as they threatened a black man with their guns drawn while he knelt with his up.    In the video, filmed in the city of Hawthorne, at least four officers can be seen pointing their guns at the man, who is kneeling on the sidewalk, facing away from the officers with his hands above his head.   More Hawthorne cops arrive as the woman, Sky Holsey, begs the officers to put their guns away. The man can be heard saying he is unarmed.     The incident occurred at a busy intersection in Hawthorne, in Los Angeles County. William Ewell, 24, ended up being arrested that Friday morning, police records show.   The video went viral over the weekend, leaving many people outraged over the number of police officers with their guns drawn.
